We can also make jam and chutney hampers or gifts…perfect presents for your foodie friends, just pop in and ask us! It won’t be long now until the arrival of our festive [and very delicious] christmas jam and chutney…flavoured with wonderful winter spices, perfect for those Christmas get-togethers, or just to eat by yourself! We hope to see you soon!
Our lovely, warm and homely tea room is open 7 days a week throughout winter so why not escape the cold and pop in for a cup of tea and a slice of our delicious homemade cakes – there’s plenty to choose from! If you prefer you could have a tasty homemade cream tea – with scones and jam made right here at Wayside or a homemade lunch. We are proud to be able to say that all of our cakes, scones and preserves are all made in the Wayside kitchen and all are made from lovely, fresh, seasonal local produce! We hope to see you soon!
Here at Wayside we have produced a new jam for the West Midlands Butterfly Conservation to celebrate and raise awareness for The Brown Hairstreak, one of Worcestershire’s rarest and most attractive butterflies.
Brown Hairstreaks lay their eggs on sloe bushes. When hedges are cut annually, eggs are lost. Butterfly Conservation is working with farmers to encourage less intensive hedge cutting which reduces workloads and creates more wildlife friendly hedges.
Our Hairstreak Jelly is made with sloes gathered from local blackthorn hedges by volunteers from West Midlands Butterfly Conservation, as well as apples and damsons.
Every jar sold raises money for conservation of the Brown Hairstreak butterfly and we are very pleased to be able to support this important cause.
